Sitting pretty: Pens locks up first place in East with 3-2 win over Boston

Boston Bruins vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

It was a day filled with emotion for the Boston Bruins, but it ended with the Pittsburgh Penguins continuing to roll to victory.

The Penguins took out the Bruins 3-2 clinching first place in the Eastern Conference. The Pens were powered by power play goals from Jarome Iginla and Kris Letang in the third period to put Boston away. Jussi Jokinen also added a goal. Tomas Vokoun made 38 saves to win the day for Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh will now wait to see when Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, James Neal, and Paul Martin all return to the lineup. By the way, they’ve won six in a row and 21 of their last 23 games. They may be pretty good.

On the other hand, Boston was unable to close in on Northeast Division leading Montreal who sit two points ahead of them in the standings. The Habs face Washington at home tonight.
