Ducks sign Yale standout Laganiere to two-year deal

The Anaheim Ducks have secured the services of highly-touted college free agent Antoine Laganiere, according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie.

Laganiere, 22, just wrapped an impressive four-year career at Yale by capturing the school’s first NCAA championship with a 4-0 win over Quinnipiac in the Frozen Four final.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound forward scored 15G-14A-29PTS in 37 games for the Bulldogs this season and was highly coveted by a number of NHL clubs.

Vancouver GM Mike Gillis invited Laganiere to the club’s development camp in 2011 and scouted him again this past February. It’s also believed the Oilers, Canadiens and Penguins were interested in Laganiere’s services.
