It’s not often you see a goaltender make a save with their back, but Nashville’s Pekka Rinne did tonight.
With the puck in the Predators’ trapezoid, Detroit’s Joakim Andersson chipped it over net while Rinne looked behind his shoulder.
The Predators goaltender jerked backwards to avoid the puck bouncing into the net and then executed the rare “standing snow angel” maneuver, which you can see below:
Rinne ended up making 29 saves against Detroit, but it still wasn’t enough as the Red Wings cruised to a 3-0 victory.
