Despite loss to Stars, Torres solid in Sharks debut

Torres

Given his history, it looks like some Sharks fans will have trouble warming up to newly acquired forward Raffi Torres. Some even took to booing Torres in his debut on Sunday.

Still, he had a strong showing in his first game with the San Jose Sharks.

Torres recorded seven hits in 13:29 minutes of playing time, but managed to stay out of the sin bin. Instead, he got under the skin of Dallas Stars defenseman Brenden Dillon early on in this contest and drew a penalty, as you can see below:

Torres also ended up with two assists and was particularly helpful in T.J. Galiardi’s goal at 7:48 of the second period:

Of course, the Dallas Stars ended up overcoming a 4-2 deficit to earn a 5-4 shootout victory against the San Jose Sharks.

That snapped the Sharks’ seven-game winning streak and helped keep the Stars’ slim playoff hopes alive. Dallas is still four points out of eighth place with just 10 games remaining in its schedule.
