McLaren out with flu, Leafs call up Colborne

Joe Colborne

The Leafs will have to go without one pugilist tonight against the Flyers as Frazer McLaren is out with the flu. To take his place in the lineup, Toronto has recalled prospect centerman Joe Colborne from the AHL.

In case you’ve forgotten, the Leafs acquired Colborne from the Boston Bruins back in 2011 in the Tomas Kaberle deal. This season for the Toronto Marlies, Colborne has 14 goals and 28 assists in 65 games and he remains a player the Leafs hope can anchor a scoring line in the future. At 23 years-old that’s still possible.

On the upside for Toronto, adding another scorer to the lineup on the night when new Flyers goalie Steve Mason is set to make his debut might just work out perfectly for them.
