Trade: Devils acquire Sullivan from Coyotes

Steve Sullivan

The New Jersey Devils have found their offensive-minded winger by getting Steve Sullivan from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for a seventh-round pick in 2013.

The move is a return of sorts for Sullivan -- he was selected by the Devils in the ninth round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft and spent a few years with the club before beginning his nomadic journey through the NHL.

The former Maple Leaf, Blackhawk, Predator, Penguin and Coyote was enjoying a fairly solid 2013 campaign. He had 5G-7A-12PTS in 33 games for the Coyotes this year, averaging 14 minutes per game.

The Devils were in need of some punch up front heading into the deadline, and Sullivan addresses that need. New Jersey ranks 25th in the NHL in goals per game (2.42).
