Sens fielding offers on goalie Bishop

Bishop

A 26-year-old goalie with a .922 save percentage is going to draw trade interest when he’s believed to be available, and that’s exactly what’s happening in Ottawa with regards to Ben Bishop.

Senators assistant general manager Tim Murray confirmed Wednesday morning that the club has received calls from five or six teams about the 6-foot-7 netminder.

But it’s “going to have to be a significant offer” to move Bishop, said Murray, per Sportsnet’s Ian Mendes.

Bishop is a pending restricted free agent currently making $650,000.

Even if the Sens do receive a “significant offer,” they may still be wary about moving Bishop with Craig Anderson still recovering from an ankle injury and their other goalie being 21-year-old rookie Robin Lehner.

As we noted earlier today, Ottawa just started a seven-game road trip and still isn’t assured of a playoff spot.
