Ovechkin shows off cut after taking puck to face

Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin left Thursday’s practice after being struck by a puck and needed stitches, CSN Washington reports.

Ovechkin went down as a result of the blow, but quickly got back to his feet. He threw his stick before skating off the ice so that the bleeding wound on his chin could be attended to.

Fortunately, Ovechkin seemed to be in good spirits after that incident.

“It’s hockey ))) hahaha,” Ovechkin tweeted. He later added that he needed 22 stitches.
