Brett Connolly isn’t moping about lack of NHL reps

After enjoying a rookie year in the NHL that totaled 68 games played in 2011-12, Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Brett Connolly hasn’t been called up from the AHL yet this season.

To add insult to injury, the 20-year-old has had the displeasure of watching guys like Cory Conacher, Alex Killorn and Richard Panik get the nod instead.

If there’s any bitterness forming from those snubs, the sixth pick of the 2010 NHL Draft did his best to mask it in an interview with The Syracuse Post-Standard.

“Obviously, you’re disappointed. Everybody wants to go up there,’' Connolly said. “I understand everything they are saying. For me, (my career development) is in the long run, it’s not in the short run. For me, I’m going to be prepared whenever the time comes to go in there and play a lot of minutes, be a go-to guy.”

Even if the Lightning don’t go to him for quite some time.
