The Minnesota Wild have added some defensive depth by signing 36-year-old Brett Clark, according to Minneapolis Star Tribune writer Michael Russo’s sources.
Clark still needs to pass a physical, but could join the team on Thursday.
The veteran defenseman has played in 681 career NHL games with the Montreal Canadiens, Atlanta Thrashers, Colorado Avalanche, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Last season he had 15 points in 82 games.
Clark has surpassed the 30-point mark three times in his career and isn’t afraid to put his body in the line of fire. Last season he ranked second in the NHL with 199 blocked shots.
Russo speculated that the Wild will probably use him as a sixth or seventh defenseman.
