Slumping Canucks recall Ebbett, send Schroeder back to AHL

Andrew Ebbett

The Vancouver Canucks have recalled veteran center Andrew Ebbett from AHL Chicago in return for rookie center Jordan Schroeder, who’s being sent down after failing to register a point in eight straight games and landing in the coach’s doghouse.

Ebbett, 30, has 32 points in 37 games with the Wolves. He played five games in Vancouver earlier in the season, with no goals or assists.

Schroeder, 22, had two goals and three assists during his 22 games with the Canucks, and he showed flashes of the offensive skill that made him the team’s first-round pick (22nd overall) in 2009.

But with Vancouver on a four-game winless streak, and having just surrendered first place in the Northwest Division to Minnesota, clearly the club felt a change was needed.

The Canucks play the Blue Jackets in Columbus on Tuesday evening.
