Selanne matches Jagr, ageless wonders lead scoring race

Selanne

Mere hours after Jaromir Jagr scored two goals and two assists to lead the Dallas Stars in their 4-3 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes, Teemu Selanne followed suit.

After the Anaheim Ducks chased Cory Schneider out of the game, Selanne scored two goals against Roberto Luongo to give the Ducks more breathing room in their eventual 7-3 victory over the Canucks.

You can watch Selanne’s power-play goal in the second period below:

Selanne also recorded a pair of assists, so with the NHL’s opening day in the books, a pair of 40-somethings are leading the NHL scoring race with four points each.

The two are also in what could be a season-long race to determine who will finish his career with more goals. Jagr now has 667 while Selanne has 665. Both are within striking distance of Luc Robitaille, who sits at 10th place with 668 career goals.
