After undergoing knee surgery to repair his ACL and waiting for the lockout to end, Daniel Carcillo finally got to play in an NHL game on Saturday for the first time since Jan. 2, 2011. He logged 6:33 minutes and is already back on the sidelines, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Carcillo sustained a leg injury in Chicago’s 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings.
“Danny is going to miss some time here,” Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said. “We’ll know more exactly about the time frame by (Sunday).”
Before the game began, Carcillo told CSN Chicago that his year-long absence was “a good reflection period. And it was good to grow physically and mentally.”
Carcillo was given a golden opportunity, opening the season on a line Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa. Carcillo registered an assist on Hossa’s goal before being forced to the sidelines.
