Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien saw his conditioning come into question over the summer when he was spotted looking a bit out of shape at Dave Bolland’s wedding.

With training camps about to open, Byfuglien was in Winnipeg today to explain himself, sort of, as Tim Campbell of the Winnipeg Free Press shared.

On his weight from over the summer: “I stayed right around the same.”

On what his weight is: “You guys always want to know that. You’ll never get it.” (The team lists it as 265 pounds on its website.)

On his condition at the moment: “I guess it’s time to go to work. It doesn’t matter. I don’t have a choice. You have to go. It’s alright. I feel fine.”

For what it’s worth, Byfuglien did spend a good part of the lockout working out and skating with other pros in Minnesota. Never mind that his listed weight is likely exaggerated a bit south of where he’s at normally anyways, but hey, you wear an unflattering suit and all hell breaks loose. I guess Big Buff knows what it’s like to be a Hollywood starlet on the red carpet now.
