CBA update: Sides spoke, but nothing formal scheduled

Following an increasingly bitter weekend and Monday’s Hall of Fame ceremony, the NHL and NHLPA spoke briefly but didn’t plan a new round of formal talks on Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun.

These types of updates probably seem like a broken record at this point, but one must take the threat of losing December’s games seriously soon.

The often-mentioned vision of a Dec. 1 start could provide at least a loose deadline for the talks.

Bergen Record reporter Tom Gulitti believes that the two sides will “take another run” at a deal after short break, which would be needed since he also thinks that the sides need to wrap things up at the end of next week to start on Dec. 1.

In the mean time, it appears players will continue to flood overseas leagues and/or occasionally pontificate about this dour situation.
