Boston goalie Tuukka Rask, currently playing for HC Plzen of the Czech Extraliga, was forced to leave today’s game against HC Slavia Praha with an apparent groin injury.

According to Roman Jedlicka of TV Nova Sport in the Czech Republic, Rask played the first period before taking a spot on the bench.

It’s not clear if Rask’s injury is serious or not, but the Bruins have to be concerned given the 25-year-old missed 19 regular-season and five playoff games in 2011-12 with groin issues.

The B’s aren’t expected to have Tim Thomas for the upcoming season, leaving Rask as the undisputed starter and inexperienced Anton Khudobin to back up.
