Dwight King worked hard to get out of the AHL last season and helped the Los Angeles Kings win the Stanley Cup. His efforts were rewarded when he inked a two-year/$1.5 million extension over the summer.
It’s King’s first big contract, but he won’t start to collect from it until the lockout ends. Instead he’s back in the AHL after signing a deal with the Manchester Monarchs, who announced the agreement.
King was eligible to sign with the Monarchs because he was part of their 2012 Clear Day Roster, according to the Calgary Herald.
King had 11 goals and 29 points in 50 AHL games with the Manchester Monarchs last season and 52 points in 72 AHL contests in 2010-11. He also netted the game-winning goal in Games 2 and 3 of the Western Conference finals.
