Chipchura signs with Central League’s Arizona Sundogs

Chipchura

The Central Hockey League added another NHLer to its ranks on Monday as Phoenix Coyotes forward Kyle Chipchura signed with the Arizona Sundogs.

Chipchura will join Coyotes teammate David Schlemko as a member of the Sundogs; Detroit Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey will also play in the CHL this season as a member of the Denver Cutthroats.

“We are excited to have such a talented guy join our team.” Arizona General Manager Chris Presson said of Chipchura. “He brings with him the experience that we are looking for. He has helped his teams on more than one occasion reach the championships, so he knows what it takes.”

Chipchua, 26, was Montreal’s first-round pick (18th overall) at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He’s played over 200 NHL contests with the Canadiens, Ducks and Coyotes and had arguably his best year in Phoenix last season, posting career-highs in assists (13) and points (16).

Chipchura also played in 15 postseason games for the ‘Yotes in 2011-12, scoring 1G-3A-4PTS en route to the Western Conference finals.
