Remember when Alexander Semin’s lockout plan was to suit up for his hometown team in the KHL’s second division? Yeah, about that...
Sport-Express’ Slava Malamud reports Semin terminated his deal with that team and signed on to play with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the KHL’s top division. Semin’s contract with his hometown team was one that didn’t pay him anything so severing ties with them isn’t too big a deal.
Semin will join up with Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov at Torpedo giving them two of their three allotted NHL players during the lockout. In case you forgot, Semin was supposed to play for the Carolina Hurricanes this season after signing a one-year deal with the team.
