Rick Nash sustained a shoulder injury while playing for HC Davos. He left the game as a result, but fortunately the recent news about the injury has been encouraging.
Nash had an MRI and it revealed no shoulder damage, according to Larry Brooks. Nash is now day-to-day.
The worst case scenario for a hockey player in Europe is that they suffer a serious injury. The NHLPA warned the players that NHL teams might suspend the contracts of those that are hurt while playing overseas until they are cleared to return.
On top of that, a long-term injury to Nash would be devastating to the Rangers. As things stand, if we were to get a new CBA today, the Rangers would likely enter the regular season without Marian Gaborik, who is recovering from shoulder surgery.
