NHLPA, NHL make their cases to Alberta Labour Board

The world’s most boring soap opera is continuing today in Edmonton, where the NHLPA is arguing before the Alberta Labour Board that the NHL’s lockout is illegal under provincial law.

The players’ union is making the case that the rules in Alberta must be applied to the workers who work there.

The NHL disagrees, arguing there are 30 teams in the league and all of the players belong to the same union, i.e. there’s not a separate union in Alberta.

So that’s exciting.

The Edmonton Sun’s Rob Tychkowski is covering the proceedings via Twitter. Follow along if you’ve got absolutely nothing to do.
