Alex Burrows has signed a four-year, $18 million contract extension with the Vancouver Canucks, the club announced Friday afternoon.
Burrows has one year remaining on his current contract (cap hit $2 million), after which the new deal (cap hit $4.5 million) will take him through the 2016-17 season.
The extension also reportedly includes a no-trade clause.
“I’m really excited,” said Burrows. “Me and my family really like it here in Vancouver, we like the organization, it’s a team that wants to win and wants to win the Stanley Cup and that’s exactly what I want to do. It makes sense for me to get a deal done and be here for another five years will be a lot of fun.”
Burrows is coming off a 28-goal season, his fourth straight 25-plus goal campaign while playing alongside Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sedin on Vancouver’s top line.
In 2009-10, Burrows scored a career high 35 goals.
