Perhaps the Florida Panthers didn’t (just?) go to Las Vegas to visit Roberto Luongo after all.

Nick Sortal reports that the company that owns the Florida Panthers and the Bank Atlantic Center hopes to work with Boyd Gaming to bring a casino to that area.

Panthers president Michael Yormark seems excited about the potential venture, although he admits that the process is just beginning.

“We’re going to work with the city, the county and, obviously, the state Legislature,” Yormark said. “It’s the first step in a long process. But we’re confident we have the right plan and the right strategy.”

The Panthers must fight off other entertainment options - including sports teams such as the Miami Heat - so this could give people another reason to go to a game.

Still, there are some hoops to jump through, which you can read about here.
