The Denver Post’s Adrian Dater reports that the Colorado Avalanche will honor the memory of Jessica “Redfield” Ghawi, although they haven’t decided how they’ll do so just yet. Ghawi was one of the shooting victims during a “Dark Knight Rises” midnight screening at a theater in Aurora, Colorado.
The Avalanche said that she was a “tremendous person and credit to the hockey world” and that their “deepest sympathies” are with her family.
Ghawi was an aspiring sports writer who earned a press pass to cover the team. She was 25 years old. Twelve people were killed and more than 50 others were wounded during the incident.
(For more on Ghawi, NHL.com has a collection of reactions and tributes from various members of the hockey community and Deadspin provided several articles about her life.)
