Now that Vancouver has committed their future in goal to Cory Schneider thanks to his new contract, all eyes have turned to Roberto Luongo and where he’ll end up. Canucks GM Mike Gillis says he’s in no rush to send Luongo packing, however.
Monte Stewart of The Canadian Press hears from Gillis about what his intentions are now with his once former No. 1 goalie.
“With respect to the possibility of trading Roberto, we’re going to take our time,” Gillis said Friday at Rogers Arena. “We’re going to make sure we do the right thing for this organization.”
Whether the right thing is to keep two multi-million dollar goalies or working out the best possible trade to send Luongo elsewhere is apparently still up in the air for Gillis. Gillis says “money doesn’t matter” when it comes to making the right move and if having both Luongo and Schneider is the answer, then so be it. The guys signing the checks in Vancouver might say otherwise.
