Patrik Elias set to give the Kings their Stanley Cup puck back

2012 NHL Stanley Cup Final – Game Six

LOS ANGELES, CA - JUNE 11: Players of the Los Angeles Kings leave the bench and skate toward goaltender Jonathan Quick #32 of the Los Angeles Kings (not in photo) as Patrik Elias #26 of the New Jersey Devils skates through center ice after the Kings won Game Six of the 2012 Stanley Cup Final 6-1 to win the Stanley Cup final series 4-2 at Staples Center on June 11, 2012 in Los Angeles, California. New Jersey Devils forward Patrik Elias denied puck burglary on Wednesday, but for one reason or another, he’s going to give the Los Angeles Kings’ their Stanley Cup puck back. Rich Hammond reports it as so, along with Elias’ excuse: it was in his equipment bag.

Patrik Elias will return the Game 6 puck to the Kings. He apparently found it in his equipment bag after he returned from vacation.

In the grand scheme of things, the most important part of the story is that the Kings are going to get a part of their history back. Considering the fact that the franchise had been Cup-less before this year despite being founded in 1967, it’s understandable that the Kings were getting a little anxious.

So let me ask the fun question, then: did Elias return the puck after honestly stumbling upon it or did he give in to that guilt? If it’s the latter instead of the former, we might as well call this “The Tale of the Tell-Tale Puck.”
