It’s the NHL or Swedish Elite League for Vancouver Canucks prospect Nicklas Jensen. The 19-year-old Dane will not be returning to his junior team in Oshawa.

“If he’s not playing with the Canucks, he’s going to be in Sweden,” Jensen’s agent, Anton Thun, told The Province. “That’s the best course for his development. In Sweden, he’ll face a better level of competition.”

Jensen, a big power forward, scored 25 times and added 33 assists last season with the OHL’s Generals. He can’t play in the AHL due to an agreement between the CHL and NHL restricting players under 20 from playing in the minors.

Canucks GM Mike Gillis told TEAM 1040 that the organization supports Jensen’s decision.
