Watch Kings punish Bernier, Devils with 3 PP goals

Dustin Brown, Alec Martinez

LOS ANGELES, CA - JUNE 11: Dustin Brown #23 of the Los Angeles Kings looks to celebrate with teammates Alec Martinez #27 and Drew Doughty #8 of the Los Angeles Kings after Brown scored his second goal in the first period of Game Six of the 2012 Stanley Cup Final against the New Jersey Devils at Staples Center on June 11, 2012 in Los Angeles, California. The Los Angeles Kings were given the opportunity of a lifetime when Steve Bernier was ejected from the game and given a five-minute major for boarding Rob Scuderi.

It’s one thing to get a chance like that in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals, but it’s quite another to execute on it. The Kings couldn’t have done much better with three power-play goals.

You can watch all three of them below:

In those five minutes, the Kings got more goals past Brodeur than they did in their Games 4 and 5 losses combined. They effectively erased whatever momentum the New Jersey Devils might have built up.

Los Angeles went on to earn a 6-1 victory and be the first team since 2007 to win the Stanley Cup on home ice.
