If Thursday has a specific theme at the 2012 IIHF World Championships, it’s big-time teams losing in back-breaking, late ways. Finland generated some late heroics against the United States and Slovakia finished with similar waning moment fireworks against Canada. The Czech Republic produced a similar accomplishment against Sweden, as Milan Michalek’s 4-3 goal in the closing moments sent Sweden out of the tournament.
