Laviolette on Briere’s playoff brilliance: “It speaks volumes about him”

If anyone would “score two goals” in the same overtime period, it would have to be Philadelphia Flyers forward Daniel Briere. The shifty, under-sized center scored two goals (that actually counted) including the 4-3 OT-winner (the one that counted) against the New Jersey Devils in Game 1 to push his 2012 playoff total to seven tallies.

Most impressively, that gives him 49 goals and 106 total points in 104 postseason games, prompting praise from Flyers coach Peter Laviolette.

“When it gets to the playoffs, he takes off,” Laviolette said. “It speaks volumes about him.”

The Flyers have especially good reason to sing Briere’s playoff praises. He’s collected 69 points in 64 postseason contests with Philly, slightly accelerating his already-impressive big-game pace. Here’s what Briere had to say about another high-profile output.
