Even Republican Blackhawks fans will find it hard to disagree with what U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (Democrat, 5th District in Illinois) thought about the refereeing in last night’s Chicago-Phoenix game that saw Raffi Torres go unpunished for putting Marian Hossa in the hospital with a leaping check.
“As the founder and Chairman of the United States Congressional Hockey Caucus, it is inappropriate for me to discuss lousy, incompetent, inept, disgraceful officiating,” said Quigley, as per NBCChicago.com. “I will, however, ask Chairman [Darrell] Issa to have the House Oversight Committee investigate how the NHL officials at last night’s Hawks vs. Coyotes game could have their Lasik surgery go so wrong.”
All in all, not a bad attempt at humor by a politician. (At least we think it was humor.)
