Patrick Kane says Oduya makes the plays forwards ‘dream of’

Johnny Oduya isn’t exactly household name, but Patrick Kane made it sound like the Chicago Blackhawks won the lottery when they acquired him at the trade deadline.

“This (Johnny) Oduya can make plays that forwards can dream of,” Kane said. “Coming up the ice with speed, he jumps in; he seems to be real smooth and fits in perfect with our team. He’s another guy who can jump in the play. It’s nice to have a guy like that; it adds a little more balance with our D.”

Duncan Keith chimed in, saying what Oduya brings to the team is “huge.” In Oduya, the Blackhawks got a veteran blueliner, who is capable of eating up minutes. That might take a bit of pressure off of Keith and Brent Seabrook, who are both in the top-20 in the NHL for average time on the ice per game.

Chicago has won two straight games since the Oduya trade and they’ll try to make it three in a row on Sunday in Detroit.
