If you thought that Tim Thomas’ stand against President Barack Obama and ditching out on his teammates at the White House was going to make fans in Boston upset, you’d be very wrong.
Last night against Ottawa was Thomas’ first game back in Boston since snubbing the President and the Bruins faithful greeted him the one way some people thought they wouldn’t by cheering their heads off for him. As Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com finds out, it’s a moment that Thomas isn’t going to forget.
“I was pretty certain [it would be a good reaction],” said Thomas. “But having said all that I didn’t take it for granted. I was mentally prepared either way.”
While Boston is one of the more politically active cities in the country, hockey fans there care not for these matters and like Thomas more for his ability to be a game-changing goalie instead. That’s probably for the best as Thomas’ actions could’ve made his life in Boston really difficult, really fast.
Perhaps now we can finally put this whole story to bed... Until Thomas wins the Republican Party nomination for President anyhow.
