Flames forward Rene Bourque has been suspended five games for elbowing Capitals forward Nicklas Backstrom in the head on Tuesday.
The punishment will cost Bourque, a repeat offender, $203,252.05 in salary.
Or, to put it another way, he’ll forfeit the approximate cost of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG that Taylor Lautner bought in August. (Hey, search “$200,000 car” and that’s what comes up. Don’t blame me. Blame our celebrity-obsessed society.)
Anyway, here’s Brendan Shanahan explaining the suspension.
