Alexander Semin, Roman Hamrlik won’t go tonight

The increasingly fuzzy Alexander Semin situation remains muddled. Many (quite reasonably) believe that he’s effectively a healthy scratch, but Tarik El-Bashir reports that the team is listing Semin and struggling defenseman Roman Hamrlik as day-to-day.

The Capitals are saying that Semin is close to returning to action and might even be available for Washington’s next game against the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday.

Whether the Capitals want to admit or not, they’re probably better off with the mercurial sniper in their lineup - especially with their offense continuing its relative struggles despite a coaching change. The jury’s out regarding Hamrlik’s actual value, though.
