Just what the Columbus Blue Jackets needed: a “humbled” and “desperate” Detroit team.
The Red Wings were blasted, 7-1, on Saturday in Washington, leaving Wings coach Mike Babcock to conclude the winless Jackets will be facing a fairly motivated side Tuesday night at Nationwide Arena.
“We got humbled so bad (Saturday) I would say that we better be ready to go,” Babcock said, as reported by mlive.com. “When things go like they did the other night you want to put them behind as fast as you can. We should be a pretty desperate team (Tuesday).”
Hey, awesome, says Columbus.
The last time these two sides met, Friday in Detroit, the Red Wings came away with a 5-2 victory.
If the Jackets don’t get off the schneid Tuesday, their next two opportunities will come on the road, in Buffalo Thursday and Chicago Saturday.
Hopefully James Wisniewski was worth the money. He’ll return to the line-up tomorrow after serving an eight-game suspension.
