Sidney Crosby won’t attend All-Star weekend festivities

Injuries kept Sidney Crosby out of the 2009 NHL All-Star Game in Montreal, but the league’s biggest star attended the events anyway. He won’t follow the same path this time around, though, as Pittsburgh Penguins GM Ray Shero announced that he won’t be in Raleigh, North Carolina for the 2011 edition.

Crosby ended up being the top vote-getter for the event and with good reason; it took Steven Stamkos until Sunday to pass the injured star for the NHL points scoring lead.

The Penguins star has missed nine games so far fighting concussion symptoms and has not yet been cleared to work out. Concussion issues are a bit more serious than the injury Crosby was fighting when he missed the ’09 game, so it’s probably best that he focuses only on getting healthy.
