The New York Rangers will be without the startling shootout skills and occasional flashes of brilliance of forward Erik Christensen for four to six weeks, as the team announced he is dealing with a second degree MCL sprain in his right knee. He underwent an MRI on Tuesday to determine the extent of his knee problems.

Christensen suffered the injury during the Rangers’ 3-1 win over the New Jersey Devils on Monday.

While Christensen isn’t a game changing player - he scored six goals and eight assists for 14 points in 37 games this season - he did receive some time on the Rangers first line so it’s safe to say he’ll be missed.
