The 2011 Winter Classic is just a month away and as you’d be right to expect, we here at PHT are excited for it. The game is set for 1:00 pm on New Year’s Day and will be live on NBC and we’ll be there to see the sights around Pittsburgh both inside and outside of Heinz Field.
Making things more interesting and much more fun is what HBO is doing with their tremendous 24/7 series. This time around, HBO will be following both teams and documenting everything leading up to January 1 in their series: 24/7 Penguins/Capitals: Road To The Winter Classic.
If you’ve yet to see it, we’ve got the preview for the series which kicks off on December 15th at 10 p.m. It’ll be the best 11 minutes you can spend today to get psyched up for the game.
“Nope,” Dubinsky said. “You know, I’ve played the same way my whole career and I’m not going to change. The next time I have an opportunity to play (Crosby), I’m going to play him hard.”
In case you’re wondering, that next opportunity comes on Dec. 21 in Pittsburgh, assuming that both players are healthy and not suspended.
One can understand Dubinsky’s perspective, although such honesty would be that much more interesting if there’s another incident with Crosby. His initial reaction to the hit was interestingly candid, admitting that his “stick rode up” on his adversary.
Would that stance – which, from a harsher view, might seem flippant to Dubinsky’s critics – open the door for a bigger future bit of a discipline?
Maybe, maybe not … but at least his comments aren’t as inflammatory as what John Tortorella said (at least on the record).
