With team captain/grossly overpaid center/Little League World Series hero Chris Drury primed to return to the New York Rangers for Friday’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, someone had to go.
It almost seems natural that Tim Kennedy - a player whose modest arbitration reward was rejected by his former team, the Buffalo Sabres - would be that man. The Rangers announced that the 24-year-old forward will play with the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL.
At 5'10" and 170-something lbs., Kennedy’s not going to do much as a grinder or depth forward. He still has a little bit of time to prove himself, but at 24, you have to wonder if the clock is ticking on his NHL relevance.
