Remember last night when we told you about that awkward move last night that lead to Pens prospect Eric Tangradi being sent to the ECHL? Yeah, about that... He was recalled by the Penguins this morning. You can bank on him being in the starting lineup tonight for Pittsburgh as they open the season at home against Philadelphia.

Whatever internal bookkeeping the Penguins needed to do was resolved and with Wheeling, West Virginia being just a short drive from Pittsburgh away, having him report there and then head back to Pittsburgh means only making a short country drive to get there.

Yes, when a player is sent to a minor league affiliate they have to physically report to that team. If Tangradi was sent to the team’s AHL affiliate in Scranton-Wilkes Barre, that would’ve meant a far more annoying and time-consuming trip across Pennsylvania and that’s a drive that no one wants to make.
