Beginning this Saturday (October 9), NHL Network will televise 78 NHL regular season games, all of which in HD according to the Network. The schedule will include three “flex” games so the network can choose the contests with the greatest playoff implications late in the year.
There are a few games that stand out according to the network’s press release. The Saturday slate includes the Columbus Blue Jackets-San Jose Sharks game in Stockholm, Sweden and then moves on to the Chicago Blackhawks raising their Stanley Cup banner at the United Center during a match against the Detroit Red Wings. They will also televise Mike Modano’s first appearance in Dallas as a Red Wing (October 14), Dany Heatley’s return to Ottawa (December 2) and the Hurricanes ceremony to retired Rod Brind’amour’s number (February 18).
