Chicago’s John Hancock Center will install a hockey rink on its 94th floor

You normally don’t have to worry about a fear of heights when you skate or play hockey, unless you’re sitting on Tyler Myers or Zdeno Chara’s shoulders.

That could be a genuine fear for some adventurous skaters in Chicago, though, as NBC Chicago reports that the John Hancock Center will install an ice rink on the building’s 94th floor. Wow.

The John Hancock Center announcing today they’ll be installing an ice rink on their 94th floor observatory deck early next year.

That’s more than 1,000 feet in the air, making it the world’s highest ice skating rink according to management.

The 1,000 square foot rink will take 8-12 hours to install and will be made of synthetic ice.

Perhaps high sticks and fist fights won’t be the only things causing nosebleeds at the John Hancock Center next year.
