Blackhawks trade Colin Fraser

It’s not the blockbuster deal that we saw from Chicago yesterday but it’s trade nonetheless as TSN tells us.

The club has dealt forward Colin Fraser to the Edmonton Oilers for a sixth round pick (151st overall) in this year’s NHL Entry Draft.

It’s just a minor move, but it’s the Blackhawks sending another player from their Cup-winning team out of town although you could hardly say that this move was salary-motivated. Fraser is a restricted free agent and made just $700,000 last season. As for the Oilers, they add a player who’s the definition of a fourth liner. In other words, they add a guy who fits in perfectly with most of the rest of the roster.
