Bruins vs. Flyers, Game 1: Flyers send it to OT, 4-4

I guess this is why they play 60 minutes.

After the first period, it looked as if the Flyers would just roll over and wouldn’t prove much contest for the Boston Bruins. After the second period, the Flyers had pulled within a goal and had grabbed the momentum, but the Bruins once again went ahead by two with an early goal in the third.

Yet the Flyers kept up their forecheck and amped up their energy as the Bruins started to show fatigue as the game progressed. With Marc Savard looking far from the difference maker he was hoped to be and Marco Sturm leaving the game in the first period, the Bruins are having trouble keeping players fresh.

The big revelation was the outstanding effort by Daniel Briere, who tied the game up for the Flyers as he split the Bruins’ defense and put home his own rebound past Rask. The Flyers once again have the momentum heading into overtime as they’ve ramped up the pressure on the Bruins.

I’m guessing this will be a fairly quick overtime.
