Savard expected to be cleared for Game 1

Looks like we’re finally going to get to see Marc Savard’s return for the Boston Bruins. Yesterday, we first reported that it was likely he could be available for Game 6 against the Sabres but even after passing his neuro tests the team decided that holding him out of action for one more night would be best for his health. It was understandable, especially considering that the Bruins weren’t facing elimination.

TSN is reporting this morning that the Bruins are expected to formally announce Savard’s availability for Game 1 of the second round.

At one point it looked like Savard’s career, and at the very least his season, could be in jeopardy from the concussion he suffered as a result of Matt Cooke’s hit. He was tired, lethargic and could barely make it out of his bedroom, let alone out of the house to practice.

An amazingly quick turnaround had Savard back on the ice and ready to play, providing a big emotional boost for the Bruins as they prepare to face either the Pittsburgh Penguins or the Philadelphia Flyers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
