Vanek won’t return, soft goal brings Boston closer

Tomas Vanek will not return to today’s game after suffering a “lower body injury” when he crashed into the boards during a first period odd-man rush. There’s no word on if the problem will cause him to miss extended time, but we’ll keep you up-to-date on that as we hear more.

Moving on, a Vladmir Sobotka point shot may or may not have been knocked in by Michael Ryder to give the Boston Bruins a crucial (and, according to some, soft) goal past Ryan Miller. The Bruins are now on a powerplay, showing some life now that they’re only down 2-1.
