Alex Ovechkin: 50 goals, one game remaining
Steven Stamkos: 50 goals, one game remaining
Sidney Crosby: 49 goals, one game remaining
Steven Stamkos scored twice tonight against the Florida Panthers, doing just about what I expected as he put up 10 shots on goal, and also was able to get an assist as well. Here’s video of his two goals:
This sets up a very interesting final game of the season, as Crosby, Ovechkin and Stamkos have just one game remaining and neither have anything to play for other than the scoring lead. Expect their teams to be feeding them the puck as much as possible, and I’ll be disappointed if we don’t see an average of 8 shots between the three players.
You could say that Ovechkin has the disadvantage, as it’s likely he goes against Tuukka Rask tomorrow on NBC’s Game of the Week. Of course, with Boston securing their playoff appearance from earlier today, the Bruins could put Tim Thomas in net.
