Hossa injured as Hawks rout Blues

The Chicago Blackhawks are still fighting for something, as they try and catch the San Jose Sharks for the top seed in the West. A win tonight, and the spot is theirs due to tie breakers. They did not take the St. Louis Blues lightly, and come out firing on their way to a rout (it’s currently 6-2 at the end of the second period). The Blues, seeing the game get out of hand, started to get a it aggressive.

Marian Hossa may be a victim of the Blues’ physicality. He was knocked to the ice midway through the first period by Brad Winchester, but continued to play. He was unable to make it out after just one shift in the second, however, and had to leave the game.

Hossa has become a key part of the Hawks’ offensive attack, with 24 goals in 54 games after returning from offseason surgery.

We’ll update with word as to the severity of the injury when we can, but of course the Hawks might not miss him that much. With Chicago hopefully on their way to a Stanley Cup finals appearance, having the man who has lost in the finals two straight seasons for opposite teams may bring some bad luck their way.
